Some changes are beneficial and others are not. I’ve found myself wondering how, why and who keeps coming up with all of these changes -- patient ratios, staffing assignments, core measures, patient satisfaction surveys -- who decides what is a safe assignment, and who is governing the industry? It’s certainly not the nurse. This part of my career has been a long time coming. Stepping out into the legal arena is  a challenge, and it is one that I am prepared for. Make no mistake, my passion is nursing -- good nursing. It is important for nurses to have the tools and support needed to deliver an excellent standard of care. Patient satisfaction should be the norm, not the exception. As a nurse, that’s what you strive for. You want the healthcare system in which you work to be the best that it can be. It is through litigation that changes are made. It is important for nurses to add their voice to those changes that will impact the healthcare industry. Many nurses recognize this fact; hence the birth of the legal nurse consultant. Attorneys have consulted nurses on their medical legal cases for years. Legal nurse consultants have become an integral part of the litigation team because many attorneys have experienced the benefits of having a health care professional working with them. Not only does the legal nurse consultant save attorneys time and money, we can help you win your case.
